A 7-member Indian Parliamentary delegation is arriving today headed by the Deputy Speaker of Lok Sabha, the Hon'ble Sardar Charanjit Singh Atwal. The delegation also consists of three Members of Parliament, Mr. Prasanna Acharya, Dr. K. Malaisamy, and Dr. Karan Singh Yadav, and Secretary General of the Lok Sabha Secretariat, Mr. P.D.T. Achary. They are here to participate in the Fourth Conference of the Association of SAARC Speakers and Parliamentarians being hosted in Colombo by the Parliament of Sri Lanka.
During his stay in Colombo, the Hon'ble Deputy Speaker will interact with a number of Sri Lankan dignitaries. The High Commissioner for India in Sri Lanka, Her Excellency, Mrs. Nirupama Rao will host a reception in honour of the Hon'ble Deputy Speaker of Lok Sabha and the visiting Indian Members of Parliament on 28th March, 2006.
The delegation will visit Kandy, Anuradhapura and Polonnaruwa and will depart on Monday, 3rd April, 2006.
