India-Sri Lanka Foundation is supporting participation of 3 faculty members from the University of Peradeniya, University of Jaffna and University of Rajarata in the PHYSWARE 2012, being held at Miranda House, University of Delhi from 26 November to 7 December, 2012.

PHYSWARE 2012 is a two week collaborative International “Educate the Educator” workshop on low-cost equipment and appropriate technologies that promote undergraduate level hands-on physics education throughout the developing world. PHYSWARE 2012 is an activity of the Abdus Salam International Centre for Theoretical Physics (ICTP), Trieste, a UNESCO organization and the International Commission of Physics Education (ICPE), Commission 14 of the International Union of Pure and Applied Physics (IUPAP), and ICSU organization. PHYSWARE 2012 brings together about 50 participants from 15 countries to the workshops.

The purpose of the Physware Series of Workshops is to create and strengthen the regional and international networks of physics educators who can impact the quality of physics education at the tertiary level, especially in the developing countries. Physware emanates from shared concerns on the lack of high-quality education in physics with detrimental consequences on scientific research and socio-economic process.

India-Sri Lanka Foundation plays a catalytic role in promoting cultural and educational exchanges between India and Sri Lanka through youth exchanges, student exchange programmes and by supporting participants of scholars/experts in appropriate workshops or academic events.

During the last few years, ISLF had supported student exchange programmes and educational visits benefiting approximately 100 students including participation of 20 students from Northern province on an educational visit to New Delhi; participation of 8 students and 2 teachers from Richmond College Galle in the Gateway Computer Tournament organized by Montfort Sr. Secondary School, New Delhi; visit of 6 Ayurveda doctors of the Department of Indigenous Medicine, Colombo Municipal Council to Kottakkal Arya Vaidya Sala and Trivandrum Kamaranathpuram Sanjeewani Research institute; participation of 12 students and 3 lecturers from the University of Colombo in the South Asian Economics Students Meet (SAESM); participation of a 6 members each from the South Eastern University of Sri Lanka and the Sabaragamuwa University in BLISSPOINT 2011 organized by Economics Association of Sri Venkateswara College, Delhi University and participation of 4 eminent personalities of the Sri Lankan film industry at the South Asian Film Festival at Goa.
The India - Sri Lanka Foundation was established by a Memorandum of Understanding between the governments of India and Sri Lanka in 1998 in order to foster India - Sri Lanka relations through the enhancement of economic, scientific, technical and cultural cooperation and to promote greater understanding between the people of the two countries.
