India Education Fair 2017
“India Education Fair 2017”, organised by SAPE Events & Media Pvt Ltd, was jointly inaugurated on Tuesday 7th February by Hon. Karu Jayasuriya, Speaker of Parliament of Sri Lanka and Shri Taranjit Singh Sandhu, High Commissioner of India to Sri Lanka at Galadari Hotel, Colombo.
Speaking at the occasion, Hon. Karu Jayasuriya appreciated the Higher Education facilities in India and recalled the long lasting relationship between India and Sri Lanka in the field of education. He also appreciated Government of India and the High Commission for offering more than 700 scholarships annually under various schemes for Sri Lankan students.
HE High Commissioner of India, during his address, highlighted the vast opportunities available in the field of higher education in India and the various scholarship schemes for Sri Lankan students to study in India at undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral levels. He also apprised the gathering about Government of India’s recent decisions to provide admission to Sri Lankan students in Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs), which are centre of excellence in the field of technology and engineering, and Indian Medical Colleges from the Academic Session 2017-18 onwards based on entrance examinations.
Representatives from various Indian Universities are participating in this 2-day (Feb 07-08) Education Fair, which is open to public from 10.00 am to 06.00 pm, where aspiring Sri Lankan students can interact and explore avenues open to them in Indian universities.
