An Indian Film Festival organized by the High Commission of India in association with the National Film Corporation of Sri Lanka was inaugurated on 18th February by H.E. Mr. Ashok K. Kantha, High Commissioner of India at the NFC Auditorium 303, Bauddhaloka Mawatha, Colombo – 07. ‘3 idiots’ was screened on the inaugural day. The Indian Film Festival has been organized in Sri Lanka after a gap of approximately nine years and has received a very good response. It has been decided to organize similar film festivals dedicated to a particular theme or a Director at regular intervals. The schedule of the screening of the remaining films at the Indian Film Festival from 18-24 February 2011 is:
Saturday, 19th February, 2011 1430 hrs - Muqaddar Ka Sikandar – Directed by Prakash Mehra and starring Amitabh Bachchan, Vinod Khanna, Rakhi and Amjad Khan.
Saturday, 19th February 2011 - 1800 hrs - Awaara – Directed by Raj Kapoor and starring Raj Kapoor, and Nargis. The movie is regarded as an epic landmark in the history of Hindi Cinema, and a testimony of the famous Raj Kapoor -Nargis chemistry on screen; a truly mesmerising stuff!
Sunday, 20th February, 2011 - 1430 hrs - Abhimaan- Directed by Hrishikesh Mukherjee and starring Amitabh Bachchan, Jaya Bhaduri and Asrani.
Sunday, 20th February, 2011 - 1800 hrs - Aag - Directed by Raj Kapoor and starring Raj Kapoor, Nargis, Kamini Kaushal and Prem Nath.
Monday, 21st February, 2011 - 1730 hrs - Sangam – Directed by Raj Kapoor and starring Raj Kapoor, Rajendra Kumar and Vyjayanthimala.
Tuesday, 22nd February, 2011 - 1730 hrs - Jis Desh Mein Ganga Behti Hai- Directed by Radhu Karmakar and starring Raj Kapoor, Padmini and Pran.
Wednesday, 23rd February, 2011 - 1730 hrs - Parineeta - Directed by Pradeep Sarkar and starring Vidya Balan, Saif Ali Khan and Sanjay Dutt is a film in which Sarat Chandra Chattopadhyay\\'s poetic prose comes to life.
Thursday, 24th February, 2011 - 1730 hrs - Hum Saath Saath Hain- Directed by Sooraj R. Barjatya and starring Saif Ali Khan, Salman Khan, Karishma Kapoor, Sonali Bendre, Mohnish Behl and Tabu.
Entrance to the Film Festival is free and passes could be collected from the National Film Corporation of Sri Lanka, 303, Bauddhaloka Mawatha, Colombo – 07.
