High Commissioner visits India Assisted Projects in Central Province 

            H.E. Mr. Taranjit Singh Sandhu, High Commissioner of India to Sri Lanka visited Central Province on 6 March, 2017 to inspect and assess the progress in the India Assisted Projects being implemented in Central Province. High Commissioner visited the construction site in Dunsinane Estate, one of the project sites of the third phase of India Housing Project in Nuwara Eliya District and the new Dickoya District Base Hospital building complex in Hatton.

            High Commissioner inspected the houses being constructed and also interacted with the beneficiaries of the project. He expressed Government of India's strong commitment to the development of the region and well being of the people of the region.

            High Commissioner further visited the new building complex of the 150 bed District Base Hospital, Dickoya constructed by the Government of India at a project cost of SLR 1200 million. Interacting with the officials at the Hospital, High Commissioner expressed hope that the state of the art hospital would be of immense benefit to the people of the region and would act as a trigger for development of the region.
