Around 324 Indian nationals were repatriated from Sri Lanka on special Air India flights AI 1284 from Colombo-Mumbai-Delhi and AI 1284 from Colombo-Bangalore-Delhi on 24 & 17 September 2020 respectively. These flights were scheduled as a part of ‘Vande Bharat Mission,’ an Indian Government initiative to undertake the largest ever repatriation from all over the world for return of Indian nationals stranded abroad due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
